You guys know I love my HIIT (high intensity interval training)… Mostly because it lets me get cardio over with in a pretty short amount of time. It only makes sense that my favorite treadmill workout also involves intervals.
This is seriously the most simple way to get a HIIT workout in if you can use a treadmill (if you’re looking for lower impact, try this on the elliptical or airdyne bike).
Start with a 5 minute walking warm up. I usually set the speed at three for this.
Following the warm up, alternate running (anywhere between 6-8) for a minute and walking (at a 3) for a minute.
After 20/30 minutes, finish with a five minute cool down (I start at 3 and gradually lower the speed).
Look, I really don’t like running…But this makes it bearable AND it goes by quicker. Just put your favorite podcast or music on and go!
Follow it up with some foam rolling or stretching, of course!
