I do not recommend getting a stomach bug while doing the Whole30.
Good lord, I have never wanted a saltine cracker and ginger ale so much in all my life. I felt so awful that I spent the entire day on the couch, which is completely unheard of. Luckily, I found Good Girls Revolt on Amazon Prime and watched the entire first season. Of course, there’s no second season, so now I need something else to watch.
That was Wednesday…I didn’t eat anything substantial until Thursday evening, when I finally got brave enough to try eating a baked potato. Success! It was the most delicious baked potato I’ve ever had.
Now I’m back to eating normally, thank goodness. I made some slow cooker turkey chili on Friday that we ate all weekend. O likes his bowl to be mostly full of avocado with just a drizzle of chili. I’ve been eating mine with cubed, roasted sweet potato. So good!
I feel like this last week has completely screwed up my timeline, but at least I’m no longer dreaming of FORBIDDEN FOODS. Nothing makes you feel crazy like dreaming about licking the knife after making your kid’s peanut butter sandwich. And then feeling guilty about it all day! I spent an entire morning mad at myself because I was sure I had eaten popcorn the night before.
By Sunday morning, I still wasn’t feeling 100% better. My workouts suffered…Really, I just didn’t want to do them. I can’t remember the last time I actually didn’t want to work out.
Up to this point, I had only eaten foods prepared in my own kitchen. Knowing that I would be away from home a lot on Saturday, I decided to look for a packaged snack I could throw in my bag. Turns out, some Larabars are Whole30 compliant, so I stocked up on a few varieties. I also picked up a little package of raw almonds (if you get them in the baking section they’re pretty cheap!).
I was surprised to like the Larabars so much…Coconut Cream Pie is my favorite so far. Make sure to read the ingredients, because some of the flavors contain non-compliant stuff.
I can’t believe it’s already week three, though! I remember thinking at the beginning, “This is going to be a long month. In reality, it flew by! I’m super proud of myself for sticking with it so far…Especially after my parents stopped by with some leftover berry pie my Mamaw had sent home with them.
I really wanted to eat that pie.
But I didn’t!
Are you doing the Whole30 this month? How is it going? Let me know in the comments!
