So this is where it gets interesting, guys.
Week one was kind of a breeze, but last Sunday evening KILL ALL THE THINGS hit me like a mack truck. I was so short-fused that I put myself in timeout a couple of times.
Tuesday, I was hyper-emotional. I was having the kind of day that started on a bad not and just kept getting worse. My wonderful boss at the dance studio even asked if I needed to skip practice that day after I explained what was going on. I stayed, and dancing definitely helped my mood… but I was still on the verge of tears all day.
On Wednesday and Friday, I teach group fitness classes at a local gym. I noticed a definite difference in my energy and endurance levels while teaching…I actually felt a bit sluggish and weak. My normal workouts have also been a struggle. Maybe I’m imagining things, but I feel like I’m losing muscle mass.
It’s frustrating to put lighter weights on the bar when I squat, or pick up what would usually be a medium weight dumbbell for me and realize it’s now heavy.
To add insult to injury, I woke up Saturday morning and felt…pudgier? My pants were tighter and I had a bit of a belly.
Guys. This will not do.
What’s weird, to me, is that I seem to be a little behind on the Whole30 timeline from the book. The irritability and bloating is supposed to be between days 4 to 9, and I’m on day 14. The one thing that IS right on track are the dreams.
I’m just getting used to having dreams again (now that I’m being treated for my sleep disorder), so it’s kind of weird to have them at all…But I’ve been dreaming of eating popcorn, or accidentally licking the spoon after stirring O’s yogurt. When I wake up, I feel so guilty. I have to keep reminding myself that I didn’t really eat something off limits!

As for the food…I’ve found a new love for sweet potatoes topped with pulled-pork carnitas. I probably ate that for dinner at least three days in a row! Another discovery this week: cauliflower “fried rice”. I made Whole30 compliant orange chicken and the fried cauliflower last night for dinner and it was delicious. I’ll post a recipe for both soon!
Are you doing The Whole30 this month? Let me know how it’s going for you!
